Fiber to the home

Briefly

The VLU/FTTH service of the Access Provider (AP) enables the Service Provider (SP) to offer the End User wired broadband connections through the AP’s xDSL equipment (DSLAM AP), which is installed in the outdoor cabin.

For this purpose, both the PP’s equipment, DSLAM installed near the End User, as well as the relevant full Local Substation (ToYB) circuit which the PP leases from the Wholesale Local Substation Provider (WSP) are used.

Demarcation points of the service are: (a) towards the end user, the optical fiber distributor, which is the termination point of the optical network of the PY in the building where the residence of the PY end user is located and (b) towards the network, the aggregation node in the relevant PoP of the PP.

The VLU/FTTH product is available at minimum downstream speeds of 30 Mbps, 50 Mbps, 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps. The upstream speed per product is set to at least 10% of the downstream speed. For example, the Service Provider (SP) may provide Internet Access, Television (IPTV), Video on Demand, Telephony (VoIP) services, as well as Other Services

Analytically

The VLU/FTTH service provides optical access technology connections between:

  • the Ethernet type interface of the optical network terminal equipment (ONT) owned and installed by the PY, within the End User’s residence
  • of the concentration node located at the PoP of the PP where the traffic of the optical circuits is concentrated (where the End User is connected)

Each Ethernet Aggregation node aggregates traffic from a number of homes over an extended Fiber Optic Network. The connection between the active equipment of each residence and the termination node of the optical network (Optical Line Termination – OLT) is made through appropriate optical connections. Then each OLT node is connected through sufficient optical interfaces to the Consolidation Node which is located in the PoP of the PP

VLU/FTTH Service Provision Conditions

For the provision of the VLU/FTTH service, and subject to any additional conditions/restrictions, based on current legislation, the following conditions apply:

  1. Condition 1: The PY should sign in accordance with this Agreement with the PP..
  2. Condition 2: The PY should receive OKSY service at the POP of the PY to which the access node serving the End User belongs.
  3. Condition 3: The End User is within the coverage area as announced in WCRM__ΠΠ
  4. Condition 4: The site survey at the End User’s building must be successful.
  5. Condition 5: Access is permitted and the installation of optical cabling up to the fiber optic distributor in the building and/or on the floor where the End User’s residence is located is permitted.
